F1 Pit Lane
31st Jan and 1st Feb 2020 at the F1 Pit Lane
7th Feb – 7th March in the Heartlands
We bought early bird tickets in the yellow zone for S$52 each.
The Chingay Carnival is free to enter and you can stand to see all the acts as they walk through.
What is it?
The Chingay Parade started in 1973 as a neighbourhood street parade with just Chinese cultural elements to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Today, the Chingay Parade is one of Asia’s grandest street and float parade involving 6,000 volunteer performers showcasing multiculturalism.
The theme of this year’s Chingay is “Colours in Harmony”. Chingay has long brought together people from varied backgrounds in joyous celebration, so the theme is an apt one to mark PA’s 60th year. Organisers and performers have been preparing for this for months.
The People’s Association put together a spectacular show, on top of mobilising to set up the free mask distribution points. The coronavirus is on many peoples’ minds and there were unfortunately many empty seats – but we cannot let fear stop us from carrying on with our lives.
The parade goes into the “heartlands” of Singapore for several weeks after the show.

The professional photographer on the right of this frame was one of around five running around in our section and generally obscuring the view. The only downside to the entire evening.
The Dragon was massive and really impressive. One of the best displays of the night.
