What is it?
A whimsical journey through the Nordic countries with the Poinsettia Wishes floral display. The creative direction was by the Ambassador of Denmark to Singapore, Her Excellency Dorte Bech Vizard. The display is a Christmas nod to iconic landmarks in the Nordic region.
It includes the distinct architecture of the Bolgen building in Denmark, Santa Claus Village in Finland, Hallgrimskirkja church in Iceland, Vennesla library in Norway and Triangeln train station in Sweden. Interwoven into each scene, from Santa’s post office to the reindeer station, is a landscape of poinsettias and winter blooms in shades of red, blue, yellow and white. There is also a choir of Nordic gnomes called Nisse!

What did I think?
Well I’m from Europe and real fir trees were part of my childhood, as were Christmas decorations, stories and poinsettias. It was nostalgic. It was interesting listening to people around me though who clearly were learning all about the traditions and culture of a Nordic Christmas for the first time.
It’s also chilly in the dome for this display. Take a wrap – you’ll need one!
